The Journey Project Group Study
This eight-week small group study includes a book for each participant. The books include the group study and a personal private devotional with daily devotionals for the eight weeks.
Got books? We do! Did you know The Journey Project has small-group study guide books free for the taking? Pastors, priests, clergy, Sunday School teachers, and lay leaders are encouraged to gather a group in their congregation for 8 weeks of group study with daily personal devotions.

Journey Stories
Each study, using Lectio Divina, focuses on a “journey story” in the Bible. These eight journeys include:
The Journey to Community
- Ruth and Naomi (Ruth 1:1-18)
- Mary to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-45)
The Journey to Reconciliation
- Jacob to Esau (Genesis 32:22-31)
- Joseph to the reunion with his brothers (Genesis 37:18-28)
The Journey to Peace
- The Exile (Psalm 137:1-6)
- Mary Magdalene to the Risen Christ (John 20:11-18)
The Journey to Generosity
- Elijah to the broom tree in the desert (1 Kings 19:1-9)
- The Wise Men (Matthew 2:1-12)
Each group session is designed for an hour of study and discussion. It includes the scripture passage, the directions for Lectio Divina, unison prayers at the beginning and end of study, an exegesis of the passage to be studied, four discussion questions, a “walk-about” which is a short walk to deepen an understanding of the journey, and an action to be considered based upon learnings.
